That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. (Rom 10:9)
Confession is beyond articulation of speech, but to assent
or to come to a place of concurrence and even to the point of covenant. Out of
the belief of the fullness or overflowing heart the mouth confesses faith in
acknowledging the power of both the cross and resurrection. The cross of dying to self, sin and the old
man and resurrection to being alive to God in Christ Jesus. It is something
that the Father has worked in by grace by the ‘effectual working of His power’
(Eph 3:7). Death always precede resurrection; not just one occasion but daily
(1 Cor 15:31). In His light, we see light as well as areas of the darkness in
the inner man that needs renewing.
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without
wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Heb 10:23)
