Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and
with all thy getting get understanding. (Pro 4:7)
Most if not all of us would like to get blessings, knowledge,
attention, love, healing, protection and much more. How many would consider
wisdom as the fundamental or foundational thing for a child of God? It is liken
to have all our sins forgiven by the washing of Jesus’ blood and forgetting the
power of the cross that can deal with the entity that has the propensity to
sin. Dealing with the root is more permanent and important than to deal with
the fruit. Often the root is not obvious; hence we need the grace of God to willingly yield to Christ. We can try and try to prevent sin to rear its ugly
head, failure is imminent because the root has a life of its own.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto
us wisdom….. (1Cor 1:30)
Getting wisdom is to receive all that Christ is; that Christ
may dwell in our hearts and be filled with the fullness of God (Eph 3:17, 19).
This is to mean that the life and power that takes precedent in us is not our
will but Jesus’ will. We cannot say that Christ is in us and yet we live as
though we determine our action, thoughts, speech and even our destiny. It is
not that we become a mindless robot, which is the reason why Christ is Wisdom
from God. The benefits will surely follow, God is no man’s debtor, keep the
priority in the right place.
