And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his
young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. (Num 11:28)
One of a character quality of a meek man or woman is to desire
the greater good of God’s people. There isn't any sense of exclusivity in gifts
or callings but wish God’s best for all of His children. Gifts from God are for
edification of the body and never to be regarded as standards of accolades of distinction
or qualification. Spiritual maturity is
not is the accumulation or power demonstration of gifts, but it is a
journey of faith and diminishing selfish desires so as to putting first Christ
Kingdom at the highest consideration in everything.
Are we zealous for religion of zealous for God? It is easy
to attach our affiliation and affection to a form spelled out in a creed or way
of doing church. Did Jesus heal the blind the same way all the time? Our Lord
was not concerned with the how, but with the Who. He lived with a desire to
please the Father and do only that which He sees the Father do. It is easy to
mimic man’s methods; it is a journey on a path less trodden which is sometimes
painful to be disciplined by God. It is the meek that will inherit the greater
things of the Kingdom (Matt 5:5).
